On the 4th and 5th of October 2017, at the Westin Hotel in Warsaw, the Meeting of Banking and Insurance Leaders took place, composing of: XIV edition of the Warsaw International Banking Summit and the X edition of the Insurance Forum.
The event has permanently entered the calendar of the most important people and companies representing the Polish financial sector, and this edition was attended by 512 participants, who had the chance to take part in 13 discussion panels and 4 fire chats, actively ran by 73 speakers.
The first day of the conference was started with a joint part between the two meetings, with the grand opening being hosted by Mariusz Grendowicz, Chair of the Banking Forum Advisory Board, as well as Artur Olech, Chair of the Insurance Forum Advisory Board. The conclusion of the opening was hosted by the Honorary Guest Paweł Gruza, Under-Secretary of State of the Ministry of Finance.
The participants then took part in a discussion panel concerning the impact of PSD2 on the financial sector, followed by the final joint discussion, which was a panel started by Dr. Benjamin Wellstein, who presented the largest challenges which are facing the financial sector in the context of building a reputation and long-term value for the customer.
The next part of the conference was the simultaneous running of panels in the Warsaw International Banking Summit and the Insurance Forum. The banking sector took subjects concerning payment, including the introduction of new payment methods, eg. Neuropayment, or payment via smartphones. Also taken into consideration were the challenges which are standing in the way of development, and also topics such as the technological building of customer loyalty, Artificial Intelligence in banking – practical examples of implementing Artificial Intelligence, chances and challenges which are connected with the introduction of technological innovation in banking, and also the impact of the GDPR (RODO) regulation on financial institutions.
The insurance sector ran discussions concerning the Polish insurance market as a place for implementing innovation as well as what threats and chances come with the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Participants debated the topics of traditional and modern insurance sales channels, as well as rating the impact of regulatory changes on the operations of insurance companies. They also debated on the Employee Equity Program and its impact on the long-term savings of Poles. The final discussion panel was about property insurance, more specifically the possibility of development while keeping the customers’ needs in mind.
