On 14-15 April 2021, the Meeting of Banking and Insurance Leaders took place. During the 21st Banking Forum and the 17th Insurance Forum, over half a thousand participants listened to substantive presentations and debates with representatives of the insurance and banking sectors. The event was carried out as an ONLINE broadcast.
The Congress was opened by Artur Olech, Chairman of the Insurance Forum Advisory Board, CEO hiPRO. As part of the inauguration, Mr. Piotr M. Śliwicki, President of the ERGO Hestia Group, was officially awarded the title of the Leader of the 30th anniversary of Polish insurance. Next, the participants listened to the speech of the Honorary Guest, Prof. Adam Glapiński, President of the National Bank of Poland. “(…) The current pandemic is an obvious shock and a giant surprise because it simply wasn’t part of our stories for the future. I have the impression that the development of the Polish financial system may be similar, i.e. that there will be sudden changes that we do not expect today, because they will not be a simple continuation of the current trends. Our predictions do not necessarily have to come true at all. We have the best proof of this today when completely different risks materialise in the financial system than those previously feared.” – said Prof. Adam Glapiński.
The inaugural block was a discussion of experts on the global transformation and the challenges of the financial sector in the new reality – economic recovery, environmental protection and acceleration of digitisation. The introduction was The world in 2021 and beyond – what changes and what sticks after the pandemic, which was presented by James Pomeroy, Global Economist, HSBC.

Another topic of the meeting was the socio-economic transformation of Europe in the context of climate neutrality. The assembled experts also discussed changes occurring as a result of the use of new technologies in the financial sector, including the area of challenges and models of cloud technology.
The second day of the event began with a discussion on the banks’ credit strategy and the future of the loan sector. Experts then focused on the digital lifestyle of the banking and insurance customer, as well as data security. Subsequent blocks were devoted to payments and hybrid insurance distribution and sales of insurance in banks. The summary of the Congress was a discussion on changes in the attitudes of Poles towards life insurance and building savings.
